Republican candidate for Florida State Representative Ardian Zika received a critical endorsement on Tuesday when former secretary of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs publicly championed the candidacy.
“I first met Ardian when I served as the Florida’s Secretary of Elder Affairs,” said former Florida Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Sam Verghese. “Time and time again, I have seen firsthand, Ardian’s strong advocacy for policies which help Florida families prosper. In addition, Ardian will work tirelessly to defend and protect our seniors. In this election, Ardian Zika has my unwavering support and I hope he can count on your support too!”
“I am honored to have Secretary Sam Verghese’s endorsement,” said Ardian Zika. “Secretary Verghese worked tirelessly to protect Florida’s seniors. His commitment to helping Florida families prosper has been demonstrated over and over again. I am grateful for his support and endorsement of our campaign for Florida House of Representatives, District 37.”
District 37 for the Florida House of Representatives includes Land O’ Lakes, Odessa, and nearby towns. It will be a contested race for the first time in a while, with Florida Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran holding the spot unopposed in the 2016 and 2014 elections. Corcoran is term-limited and will not be running in 2018.
Ardian Zika is a self-styled conservative Republican, having immigrated to the United States from Kosovo in 1997; leaving behind political turmoil in the former Yugoslavia. Zika champions his American Dream story as a guiding factor in public service. Zika is President & CEO of Guardian Street, LLC., a strategic business advisory practice. Before that, his background was largely in the banking world. His public service experience is mostly limited to community involvement and serving as a three-time gubernatorial appointee of Governor Rick Scott.
The candidate has received three Gubernatorial Appointments by the Florida Governor Rick Scott to three volunteer boards -the Florida Council on Homelessness, the Pasco-Hernando State College Board of Trustees and the CareerSource Florida Board of Directors.
